Villa Eleni is situated nearby a traditional fish village in Ravdoucha, close to the sea, in the municipality of Chania, Crete. The small village Ravdoucha is located about 21km west of Chania town, on the west coast of Cape Rodopos. The landscape of the area is magnificent, with high mountains, wild rocks and dense olive groves. The small fishing harbour and beach host two great seafood tavernas.
The area has several small bays with pebbles and beautiful rock formations. The sea is ideal for snorkelling. Access to Ravdoucha is possible by car, via a paved road in good condition from Chania – Kisamos highway. The village is built on the slopes of a green hillside and has amazing views to the sea and the cape Spatha.
Although well off the beaten tourist track, the village is nevertheless well known to locals due to the excellent reputation of the local fish taverna, hidden away amongst the olive groves near the coast, by the picturesque pebbly beach.
Although there are no shops in the village there are three simple cafenions, perfect for a morning coffee or evening local aperitif , from one of which you can buy, locally produced fresh eggs and fresh goats milk. However,for more sophisticated shopping and a good choice of waterfront tavernas, the seaside village of Kolymbari is just 10 minutes drive away. Here you will find two large supermarkets as well as a bank, bakery and butchers shop, pharmacy and post office .
Finally, its worth mentioning that en-route to the Ravdoucha beach are two small churches, Agia Marina and Timiou Stavros, who celebrate their Saints days on 17th July and 14th September respectively.
In Ravdoucha itself, the church of Agia Triada dates back to the 16th Century and is well worth a visit.
