Location
Villa Selena is setting up in about 480 m., on the site of Vigla. It is about 1.5 km. far from the village Ηoudetsi, 5 km. far from Archanes, 17 km. far from the port and the airport and 15 km. from the General Hospital in Heraklio. The place is absolutely ideal for the echotourisism and outdoor activities because: • It is located between two mountains, which are offered for specific forms of tourism (Psiloritis and Lasithiotika Mounts). • The approach to the north and south coastline of Crete for daily excursions and tours is excellent. • It has a lovely view oner North, East and West due to the height (480m.). • The Villa is surrounded by crops of vineyards with naming origin. • Nearby the Villa are found archeological places (Knossos, Archanes, Vathipetro and Giouchtas), monasteries (Agarathos, Spiliotissa and St. George Epanosifis) and Byzantine castles. • It is close to traditional settlements and settlements with traditional architecture, such as Archanes, restaurants and museums of Secular Art. It is also near to the Centre of Mediterranean Music in Ηoudetsi, near to processing units of agricultural products and near to some of the essential wine-producing units in Crete. On the construction, we focused on the minimization of any negative consequences that might affect the environment. We only used renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar power and natural gas in order to cover the power needs of the Cottage.
Food & Beverages
In the guests’ house traditional breakfast is served, while the midday meal or the supper will be ordered a day before to the cook of the Cottage. The ingredients, which are used for the preparation, come from the Cottage’s garden of from local companies and associations. The guest (if he wishes) has the chance to participate in the preparation, guests have the chance to familiarize with the Cretan cuisine.
