General Information

First built in the thirteenth century, and carefully restored in 1994, this fortified village inhabited to this day, is just 28 km from Rimini and may also be accessed by arriving flights from Ancona or Bologna, both around one hour journey time by car. Situated on the boundary between Emilia Romagna and Marche Regions, Castello di Montegridolfo has maintained its authentic atmosphere.

Within the walls of Castello di Montegridolfo, Palazzo Viviani has eight individually styledrooms, all beautifully furnished with antiques. Eight spacious duplex suites and rooms with private access are spread throughout the village-(Borgo Antico), feature self catering facilities and are ideal for families. In the surrounding gardens next to the open air swimming pool/spa, boasting gorgeous views, Casa del Pittore has seven romantic rooms. A few steps away, a new structure Borgo degli Ulivi, being built in the style of an old traditional village, will offer an additional thirty deluxe rooms and suites.

Guests may try the Castello’s haute cuisine at the Ristoro di Palazzo Viviani situated in the wine cellars of the Palazzo.
Osteria dell’ Accademia within the village walls features traditional local dishes, which may be enjoyed whilst sitting on the terrace overlooking the dramatic valley with its sea views of the Adriatic Coast.
Oven cooked specialities are to be found along with simple but tasty fares duly accompanied by the best wines of Italian enology in the Grotta dei Gridolfi and during the warm summer months- in the village square at Ritrovo del Vecchio Forno.

The Sala dell’Agrumaia located in the orange grove of the Palazzo Viviani gardens is ideal for private dinners, weddings, seminars; combined with the Parco degli Ulivi, this is an ideal venue for concerts, theme parties, banquets, new product launches, fashion shows, gala events.
The Town Hall at the entrance of the Village may officiate for civil marriages, and also provides space for small meetings, exhibitions, private concerts in its Sala Consiliare.

The lodging offer is varied: 54 rooms of a widespread hotel, inside the medieval walls.

The Palazzo Viviani is divided into eight rooms, each with its own individuality, carefully preserved during the restoration work and then enhanced even more by the choice of furnishings. Each one has its own name and personality to match. Inside you find La Stanza dei Cristalli, Isotta, Baldacchino, Affreschi, Cardinale, Ballatoio, Gridolfi, Heloise.
Palazzo Viviani: eight exclusive and elegant suites all furnished with antiques, in the aristocratic residence, characterized by suggestive and pleasant atmosphere.

Borgo Antico: cosy and comfortable studio/apartments, among the alleys of the old town, in medieval-rural furnishing. Some with kitchenette and lounge.

Borgo degli Ulivi: studio-rooms in modern classic style, next to our garden and swimming pool, a perfect harmony between absolute privacy and comfort.

Casa del Pittore: romantic double rooms in pastel colours, just in front of the swimming-pool. Breathtaking overview from the surrounding hills to the Adriatic sea.
